Recruitment for employers

Teacher and education recruitment for Australian employers

CrossNation recruits teachers, learning support staff and education professionals for Australian schools, colleges and training providers. Teachers must be registered in the state or territory where they work, so we record each candidate's registration status and leave the final check to you and the registering authority.

Teacher registration

AITSL is not a registered state authority. It provides the national standards a teacher must meet to become a registered teacher, and registration is handled by state and territory authorities.

What employers ask

What to know before you start

What must be in place before a teacher starts?

Confirm registration before the first day. Teachers are registered by the authority in their state or territory, and AITSL publishes the national standards behind that registration. Staff who work with children also need a working with children check or the state equivalent. Ask for the registration number or application status early, since processing time is set by the authority.

How are overseas teachers assessed?

Overseas-trained teachers who want to migrate on a skilled visa need an AITSL teacher skills assessment, which is separate from state registration. ACECQA said in a 2023 presentation that early childhood assessment would move to it in late 2024, so check ACECQA for the present process.

What do the ABS numbers show?

Education and training had 10.1 thousand job vacancies in August 2026, down from 12.9 thousand in August 2025, with a six-quarter range of 10.1 to 12.9 thousand. The industry covers schools, universities and vocational education, so brief us on the specific subject, year levels and location you need to fill.

Can you place overseas teachers?

We can source sponsorship-ready overseas teachers for employers who want them. The employer holds or obtains its own approval, and registration, skills assessment and work rights are all separate steps. We tell you where each candidate stands and promise no outcome.

Tell us the role, location and start date

The fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary, charged only when a placement succeeds.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do teachers need to be registered?

Yes. Teachers register with the authority in the state or territory where they teach. AITSL explains the national standards.

Do you recruit early childhood educators?

Yes, on our childcare recruitment page. The qualification and check rules differ from school teaching.

Can you recruit for regional schools?

Yes. For regional and remote schools, tell us the year levels, the subject mix and any relocation support you offer.

What does teacher recruitment cost?

Our fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary and applies only if a placement succeeds, and each placement carries a 90-day placement guarantee. Salary, superannuation, any registration fees you reimburse and working with children check costs are separate from our fee.

Can CrossNation sponsor an overseas teacher?

No. The employer sponsors. Teacher registration and the AITSL skills assessment run alongside sponsorship and each is its own process. This is general information, not migration advice. Speak to a registered migration agent.
