Electrician, plumber and licensed trades recruitment

CrossNation recruits electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders and other licensed and qualified tradespeople for Australian employers. Licences are issued by state regulators, so we record each candidate's licence and tickets against the job and the state before we shortlist. You verify them and decide.

What employers ask

What to know before you start

Which licence does the job need?

Licences are regulated state by state. In Victoria, Energy Safe Victoria licenses electrical workers and the Building and Plumbing Commission licenses plumbers and gasfitters. Other states have their own regulators and recognition arrangements. Name the state and the type of work in your brief, and we will screen on the licence class the work needs.

What do construction sites require?

To work in the construction industry at any level you must hold a general construction induction card, known as a white card, obtained through training with a registered training organisation. Individual sites may add their own inductions and tickets. Check candidates' cards and tickets before they start.

How are overseas tradespeople assessed?

Trades Recognition Australia assesses trade skills onshore and offshore. Depending on the trade, the outcome is a qualification or an OTSR, and the state licence remains a separate requirement. We source sponsorship-ready overseas tradespeople, and the employer holds or obtains its own approval.

What do the ABS numbers show?

Construction had 20.0 thousand job vacancies in August 2026, up from 19.5 thousand in August 2025, with a six-quarter range of 18.1 to 22.3 thousand. The figure covers the whole industry. Tell us the trade, the state and the project so we can say what we can shortlist.

Tell us the role, location and start date

The fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary, charged only when a placement succeeds.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do electricians need a licence?

Yes. Electrical work needs a licence from the state regulator, for example Energy Safe Victoria in Victoria.

Can you recruit apprentices?

Our focus is qualified and licensed trades. Tell us about the role and we will say whether it fits.

Can an overseas electrician work here straight away?

No. Skills assessment, state licensing and work rights are separate steps. We tell you where each candidate is in the process and promise no outcome.

What does trades recruitment cost?

Our fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary and applies only if a placement succeeds, and each placement carries a 90-day placement guarantee. Wages, superannuation, tools, ticket renewals and site inductions are separate costs for you.

Can CrossNation sponsor an overseas tradesperson?

No. The employer sponsors. A trade skills assessment and the state licence come alongside the visa, and each has its own process. This is general information, not migration advice. Speak to a registered migration agent.
