Accounting and finance recruitment for Australian employers

CrossNation recruits accountants, bookkeepers, payroll officers and finance analysts for Australian employers. We search candidates already in Australia and sponsorship-ready overseas candidates, and we record each candidate's qualifications and professional membership so you can check them. What employers ask

What to know before you start

What should a finance brief say?

Say whether the role is practice or in-house, which software it runs on, and whether it is month-end heavy, tax heavy or advisory. Name the membership you expect, such as CPA, Chartered Accountant or Institute of Public Accountants, or say that it does not matter. Payroll and bookkeeping roles need a clear picture of volumes and the systems in use, because candidates from a different platform ramp up at different speeds.

Who assesses accountants for migration?

Chartered Accountants ANZ, CPA Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants are the three skills assessing authorities for accounting occupations. Each assesses qualifications and experience against the nominated occupation, and the accounting Professional Year Program was developed jointly by the three. A positive assessment is evidence about a candidate's skills, not an approval of anything, and the right route is a question for a registered migration agent.

What does demand look like?

The ABS counts financial and insurance services job vacancies at 10.2 thousand in August 2026, against 10.5 thousand in August 2025 and a low of 8.9 thousand in May 2026. That industry group covers banks and insurers, so it understates accounting roles sitting in every other industry. Treat it as a market signal, and brief us on the roles you actually need to fill.

Can you recruit from overseas?

We can source sponsorship-ready overseas accountants for employers who want them. Their skills assessment, English evidence and your own approval are separate steps, and they take the time they take. We tell you where each candidate stands and do not promise a visa or a start date.

Tell us the role, location and start date

The fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary, charged only when a placement succeeds.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you recruit for accounting practices as well as in-house teams?

Yes. Tell us the practice size or the business and the systems it uses.

Is a CPA or Chartered Accountant membership required?

Only if you decide it is. Many roles do not require it. Tell us your preference and we will record each candidate's membership status.

Which body assesses an overseas accountant?

Chartered Accountants ANZ, CPA Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants are the three assessing authorities. Which one suits a candidate depends on their circumstances.

What is the fee for accounting recruitment?

Our fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary and applies only if a placement succeeds, and each placement carries a 90-day placement guarantee. Salary, superannuation, software licences and any study support you offer are separate from our fee.

Can CrossNation sponsor an overseas accountant?

No. The employer sponsors. The accounting assessing bodies, English evidence and your own nomination are separate steps that your migration agent coordinates. This is general information, not migration advice. Speak to a registered migration agent.
