IT and technology recruitment for Australian employers

CrossNation recruits software developers, data and cyber security specialists, and IT support and systems staff for Australian employers. We search candidates already in Australia and sponsorship-ready overseas candidates. Technology is a competitive market, so expect a shortlist built around your stack and seniority, not a large pile of CVs.

What employers ask

What to know before you start

How do you brief a technology role?

List the stack you actually run, the seniority you need, and whether the role is build, run or support. Say if the team is remote, hybrid or on site, and which states the hire can live in. Candidates in this market compare offers quickly, so state the salary range you can pay. We record each candidate's experience against your stack and leave the technical interview to your team.

What does an ACS skills assessment tell you?

The Australian Computer Society is authorised to assess the skills and qualifications of IT, data science and cyber security professionals on behalf of the Australian Government. An assessment examines identity documents and evaluates qualifications and work experience against professional IT standards and the occupation nominated. It is evidence about a candidate, not a guarantee of a visa, and not every role needs one, so ask what your own sponsorship route requires.

What do the ABS numbers show?

Technology work is spread across industries, so no single ABS line measures it. Professional, scientific and technical services, where software and IT consulting sit, had 29.5 thousand vacancies in August 2026 against 34.3 thousand a year earlier. Information media and telecommunications had 3.0 thousand against 3.5 thousand. Both are partial views of hiring, so use them as context and do not read them as counts of IT jobs.

Can you recruit overseas technology staff?

We can source sponsorship-ready overseas candidates for employers who want them. The employer holds or obtains its own approval, and salary, occupation and skills assessment rules are matters for Home Affairs and a registered migration agent. We tell you where each candidate is in that process and never promise an outcome.

Tell us the role, location and start date

The fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary, charged only when a placement succeeds.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you recruit contract and permanent technology staff?

We recruit permanent and contract placements. Tell us which you need and the length of any contract.

Which technology roles do you cover?

Software, data, cyber security, IT support and systems roles. Tell us the stack and seniority and we will say whether we can shortlist for it.

Does a candidate need an ACS assessment?

It depends on the visa route and the occupation, and that is a question for a registered migration agent. The ACS page explains what its assessment covers.

What does IT recruitment cost with CrossNation?

Our fee is 12% of the candidate's annual salary and applies only if a placement succeeds, and each placement carries a 90-day placement guarantee. Salary, superannuation, equipment and any contractor day rate are separate from our fee and set between you and the candidate.

Can CrossNation sponsor an overseas developer?

No. The employer sponsors. An ACS skills assessment and the salary rules for the occupation are matters for your registered migration agent and Home Affairs. This is general information, not migration advice. Speak to a registered migration agent.
